The Forum Is Here!

Ok, folks…first I’d like to thank everyone for their suggestions and techie help. An anonymous HA alumnus very generously provided the $195 fee to get started with some great forum software. Thanks!

You can check out the forums at: http://forums.recoveringalumni.com the forum has since gone under and did not make the migration to this domain.

You will need to register first before you can view or post.

I’m new at this and our volunteer moderators are also getting up to speed, so please bear with us through any hiccups over the next week or so. Shoot me an email if you encounter any problems.

See you in the forums!

You should add a link to the forum on the sidebar, by the links to the RSS feeds, or on a tab at the top or something.

Thanks for doing this! And thanks to the generous alumni who gave to help make it happen!

Can some of us pitch in to this person? I’d be happy to paypal $5 to help cover the cost. I’m sure this person was very generous to do this on their own – but I’d be happy to help lighten the load – I imagine I might not be the only one. Maybe you could create a paypal account recovering alumni with your gmail account and payments could go there – then you could distribute it – I’m assuming this person wants to remain very confidential.

I’m in the process of singing up now. Who and how will people be able to see my email address? I don’t mind sharing my identity with regular commenters like you guys, but don’t want identifying information like my email linking me to a TM forum for friends and family to see. Thanks!

Z – you can set it up so that your profile does not display your email address. If it is displayed, anyone who is a member of the forum would be able to see it…although, looking at a few profiles, I haven’t seen an email address yet. You don’t even need to use your real name if you don’t want to. ๐Ÿ™‚

yay! That’s awesome. Thank you, thank you to the generous donor! I agree with hitchcokhill, I would be willing to contribute to cover the cost as well.

Can we also add a paypal tab to contribute to counseling costs or should we just send the bill to TM? ๐Ÿ˜‰

I’ve contacted the generous donor regarding your offer to help pay. They indicated that they were more than happy to bless you all in this way and declined your generous offer. ๐Ÿ™‚

Last Anon – Great question! Yeah, I think TM definitely owes a lot of money to alumni to cover counseling costs. I’m sure there is a lawyer somewhere that could make a case for it…

I work at a community mental health center. The going rate for an hour long session with a master’s level counselor once a month is $80.00.

Once a month is not frequent enough, you will probably need weekly sessions. $80*4=$320/month.

Probably need about 6 months of counseling- $320.00*6=$1920.00

The bill for one person is $1920.00 which would cover about 4.5 months of the HA back in 2001 ($450.00/month)

Multiply that times as many interns are affected and needing counseling…

TM has a BIG bill!
