What is with this fascination with military imagery and training? I really don’t get it. Does Jesus reflect this in his ministry? The only time Jesus ever got confrontational was with the Pharisees. He didn’t rail on and on about the evils of his day. He didn’t villify people. There are so few references to military metaphors in the New Testament (Ephesians 6 being the main one) yet Luce has built a whole culture and movement around militaristic principles.
Memo to Ron Luce…Jesus overcame evil with LOVE. Not anger.

I’m surprised that nobody commented on this.
Now, we as believers are called to a fight, however…
I think Mr Luce is woefully misdirecting his warfare. We fight not against flesh and blood, sir. I think making MTV and secular media “the enemy” is kind of stupid.
Wrong enemy bucko.

it’s interesting to me that any articles critical of TM and the work that they do almost always point out Luce’s fanaticism with the military. Christian or secular, it inevitably works its way back to how wrong this perspective is, and how warping it can prove to be to a bunch of impressionable young adults–not to mention how incredibly prevalent it is in almost everything TM preaches or does.
Here’s an interesting article that came out a few years ago–it can be kind of biting, but overall fairly accurate [and usually points out things that we all thought at one point or another, but didn’t know how to say]:
