In an absolutely horrific tragedy yesterday, 4 people were killed in a plane crash. One of them was a Teen Mania staff member. I’m told that as of right now, Hannah Luce is the only survivor and she is in critical condition with burns on about 1/3 of her body.
If you are still the praying type, please pray for Hannah and the families of the other victims. There are really no words to describe what a horrible tragedy this is.

Teen Mania Friends and Family:
We are sad to announce that five individuals on board a flight to Acquire The Fire in Council Bluffs, Iowa were involved in a plane crash around 4:30 yesterday afternoon. The plane went down in rural southeastern Kansas, and three of the five on board died at the scene. Please be in prayer for the families of Luke Sheets, Garrett Coble, and Stephen Luth, who went to be with the Lord yesterday.
Hannah Luce and Austin Anderson were also onboard the plane when it crashed and were able to walk to a nearby roadway and get help. However, both Hannah and Austin suffered severe injuries and were life-flighted to hospitals in Kansas City and Wichita, respectively. Hannah is listed in serious but stable condition, suffering primarily from burns on 28 percent of her body. Sadly, Austin succumbed to his injuries at 5:30 this morning and went to be with the Lord.The entire Teen Mania family is mourning the loss of four young lives who were full of so much promise and love for God. All were friends of Teen Mania, and two of them, Austin and Stephen, were newly hired to Teen Mania’s staff to join our marketing team. Please pray that God surrounds the families of Austin, Stephen, Luke and Garrett with His love and peace in this extremely difficult time.
Please also hold up Hannah and the Luce family in your prayers as she continues to recover from her injuries. Ask that God give Hannah strength and healing, and that He also surround her parents, brother and sister with His peace and love.

Seriously what a horrible tragedy indeed. 2 of them were actually staff members that were recent graduates of ORU and recently brought on board as a part of the marketing department at TM. When the crash happened, 3 of the guys died on impact while Hannah and Garrett were able to walk to a nearby road to get help. Garrett later died from his injuries. Hannah received the least of the injuries but is still in critical condition.

I agree with alot of you. No matter what you think of Ron Luce and TMM this is tragic. Hannah is a wonderful young woman, and the other victim’s families are in my prayers. And my thoughts are with Ron and his wife Katie too even though I do not agree with they way they run TMM etc, Ron’s father was my God father and I have know Ron since we were little kids! He wasnt always that way he is now. It saddens me so much.

One of the men was also engaged. We should be praying for his former fiancee as well. Can definitely relate to thinking you’re going to marry someone and then losing that person, but losing someone to this sort of tragedy is an entirely different level of loss.

This person obviously doesn’t understand the emotional damage that has been caused by TM and other religious organizations–no matter how well-intended they may be.
But to this person’s point, if any majority of our time is being spent maliciously attacking other human beings out of bitterness from being injured by them, then we are not only avoiding our own “recovery,” but are also deepening the wound.
Let’s just be careful that this is none of our attitudes. Mercy for all is what I say. And sometimes, extending mercy to oneself is actually more about walking away from those who haven’t extended the same in the past rather than trying to point out how wrong they are.

We’re united in our shock and sadness over the accident, and we’re united in our fervent desire to see Hannah get better and to see the families of the victims be supported during this extremely difficult time. It’s really amazing any of them survived. Thank you for posting this, RA. I will be praying for sure for the families, and for the survivor. This will affect the Luces future and ministry for sure… Thank you for showing compassion.

When I was 15 I met Hannah in Nicaragua. She wouldn’t remember as she was probably only 3 years old or so, but it’s still fresh in my mind how smiley and full of energy she was. Ron was shadowing our team that day and he had brought his daughter with him. She thought I was funny so she kinda gravitated to me that day and followed me around. She was fearless , walking up to all the kids in the villages where we went and trying to strike up a conversation. I know she’s in her 20’s now but all I can think of is that sweet little girl I knew for a day and the pain she must be in, physically and emotionally and my heart’s broken.
Whatever I think of Teen Mania or Ron Luce, all my prayers and all my love goes out to him and Katie and their family tonight. Lord, please bless Hannah with a speedy recovery and minister to her heart that has been through this traumatizing ideal. Sooth the fear and despair that she may be tempted to feel and instead let her rest in the shadow of your wings.
Let’s all of us in Christ take this time to get some perspective. Whatever our differences, we are still brothers and sisters in the Lord. A time like this should serve to remind us of that. We can disagree with TM and it’s policies, and we can fight to make changes, but for tonight, please, let’s all be united in prayer for our sister and her family. Love you guys. All you guys. This is why I left the Honor Academy, I left the week around Thanksgiving holiday. She and another woman came to pick me up, I was also not getting donations in, so I thought it was best to leave. The following year she died: March 31, 2001 I was homeless before I came to the HA and then went back home after my stepdad was removed from the home. Before she died she let the abusive man back in and I was once again back in the hospital due to injuries from him. I was living in the 2nd shelter when she died, I was brought up to the hospital and actually watched her die in the ICU. The next day I was sent back to the homeless shelter….

It’s amazing to me how someone with burns over 90% of his body could rescue a fellow passenger, and then they both were able to walk to get help…RIP, Mr. Anderson….you’re truly a hero.

I started to learn about Teen Mania after an old classmate/now Okie pastor friend of mine posted Luce’s statement on his Facebook page for his congregation a few days ago. Upon combing the internet for information, I watched the MSNBC documentary, reviewed your site and read the piece/links from dallascult.com as well as the collective open letter from concernedalumni. I have an almost 18-year-old daughter who lives for Jesus and feels strongly about her Pentecostal youth group. I can see her or any one of her church friends trusting Luce’s ministry and falling prey to its twisted teachings. It could have happened to anyone, and I want to tell you that I am so sorry for what you endured during your time at HA and for the remaining pain as all of you continue to try to recover spiritually and emotionally.
One thing that I found stunning was that, at the time I originally looked, only 600-something had viewed the MSNBC documentary posted on YouTube despite the fact that the name of this organization has floated around churches for some time in a positive light(take my Okie minister friend, for example, who shares Ron’s posts for his congregation to read). Since the day of the plane crash and after national coverage of Marine, Austin Anderson’s involvement in Hannah Luce’s rescue, these numbers have climbed. I expect hits to your site have climbed as well. None can know God’s hand in such things, but your courage in maintaining a site where alumni can try to heal together and that the nation’s Google searches happen to land on during this time, exposing what has been going on in this organization, is commendable. Perhaps your courage coupled with the recent tragedy can bring the exposure needed to bring change and spare others the pain and grief so many have endured and continue to manage as adults. I pray so. And I pray Ron Luce might be humbled to recognition of his arrogance and false teachings so that all of you can receive healing apologies and so that the organization can either change dramatically or cease altogether.
Hang in there, Alumni. Some folks are paying attention and are seeing what is going on…BECAUSE OF YOUR COURAGE. In that sense God has used you and your experiences for a greater good. Please find comfort in that. Prayers and blessings to all of you. 🙂

Wow! I am so saddened to hear about this tragedy. The youth involved in the crash were amazing young men and true servants of our Lord. God is so pleased with them, and I praise God that they will reign with Him forever! I thank God for Hannah’s life, and will certainly continue to keep her in prayer, along with your family amd the other families. Your ministry has been such a blessing to my teenagers and the body of Christ. Keep pressing on and know that Jesus has even greater things in store you. None can know God’s hand in such things, but your courage in maintaining a site where alumni can try to heal together and that the nation’s Google searches happen to land on during this time, exposing what has been going on in this organization, is commendable. Perhaps your courage coupled with the recent tragedy can bring the exposure needed to bring change and spare others the pain and grief so many have endured and continue to manage as adults. I pray so. And I pray Ron Luce might be humbled to recognition of his arrogance and false teachings so that all of you can receive healing apologies and so that the organization can either change dramatically or cease altogether.
Hang in there, Alumni. Some folks are paying attention and are seeing what is going on…BECAUSE OF YOUR COURAGE. In that sense God has used you and your experiences for a greater good. Please find comfort in that. Prayers and blessings to all of you. 🙂

I have some thoughts about this youtube from The Dagger, but I don’t want to post them on this thread, which is a response to the plane crash. The only thing I will say here is that we continue to pray for Hannah’s recovery and for the friends and families of the other victims.
Wow! I am so saddened to hear about this tragedy. The youth involved in the crash were amazing young men and true servants of our Lord. God is so pleased with them, and I praise God that they will reign with Him forever! I thank God for Hannah’s life, and will certainly continue to keep her in prayer, along with your family amd the other families. Your ministry has been such a blessing to my teenagers and the body of Christ. Keep pressing on and know that Jesus has even greater things in store you.
