Grace

RT @RickWarren: Anyone who claims to believe in grace but doesn’t freely GIVE IT to everyone is a liar. See 1 John 4:20

Grace for and to everyone. A good reminder.

RA: Do you give grace to Dave Hasz & Ron Luce? Abuse is intentional; mistakes are not. Over 22 years do you really believe that TM sole mission has been to hurt the body of Christ?

Last Anon: Is that really how you define “abuse”? It has to be intentional? Neglect is also abuse.

Anon: What if I hurt somebody by mistake, they tell me about it, and I refuse to apologize or even acknowledge that I might have been wrong? What would that make me?

There’s plenty of grace here for those who have hurt us; we just wish they would return the favor.

Layne,
The definition of abuse(per federal guidelines for parental abuse) is nonaccidental. It does, in fact, have to be intentional.

I’m not defending neglect, and neglect has many of the same results as abuse, but they are different.

Philip,

I agree. However, now they know what they are doing, it has been brought to light so from this point forward, is it nonaccidental?

I have NEVER said TM’s sole mission has been to hurt the body of Christ. Where did you read that? It wasn’t here.

Spiritual Abuse does not have to be intentional. There are several definitions of spiritual abuse on the blog.

I absolutely give grace to Dave and Ron. I would love nothing more than for them to repent and be able to restore the relationship. That is why we’ve gone to them, and then to the BOD, in accordance with Matthew 18. Grace does not mean we give abusers a license to abuse. This post reminds me that I could just as easily have turned into a life-long spiritual abuser. I am no different from Dave or Ron in that way.

However, grace does not give license to an abuser to continue abusing.

Hope that clarifies.

I think it’s funny that people think this blog is even about Dave & Ron. It might be addressing what they’re doing, but it’s more about healing hearts and revealing truth.
