Ron’s Lies About His Family: An Update

Since I was the author of the original a letter I thought it only fair that I update those who read it on what has happened since. Ron called tonight to talk with me. He expressed how sorry he was that his words had hurt our family. I told him I didn’t mind him sharing the story but wished he had written it without making us sound like uncaring parents. He agreed and again expressed remorse. We also had the opportunity to talk about my son and how he wanted to share his story as a way to show teens that no matter where you are at, there is always a way back. I agree with Ron on this point emphatically. I also told him I was concerned about the ministry after reading the Recovering Alumni Blogs. He spoke of the changes that had been made since many of the bloggers had attended the Honor Academy. I am confident that Ron’s apology was sincere as is his commitment to the ministry. The example for forgiveness was set over 2000 years ago by our heavenly father and I choose to follow his example in this matter. I also asked Ron for his forgiveness for not coming to him. I hope those teens that read this understand that we are all called to follow the example Christ set for us. It was only after my son let go of his anger towards his father and I that our relationship was healed. No matter what has caused hurt in your life you have to be open to forgive. That does not mean you must forget, it simply means you are free to move on with your life and experience the joy of having positive relationships in your personal and spiritual life. I hope this conclusion to my letter helps some of you. I will keep you in my prayers.
